Safeguarding Training for Security Personnel — France, 2024

In 2024, as part of preparations for a major multi-sport event in France, event delivery partners were required to implement safeguarding training for all contracted security personnel. SPARTNER, responsible for the security functional area at five competition venues across the country, engaged IGNITX to design and deliver an integrated safeguarding training programme.
What we did
- IGNITX partnered with the event’s ethics and compliance teams to design a unified safeguarding curriculum tailored for security staff.
- The training sought to raise awareness of inappropriate conduct, clearly explain reporting procedures, and present common real-world scenarios for discussion.
- Given the varied backgrounds of participants, the program consisted of three components:
- Online foundational safeguarding module
- Bilingual (English and French) informational brochures
- Video-based training followed by a certification assessment
Results
- Of participants who completed the video session, 70 % proceeded to the certification exam, with a 98 % pass rate.
- The event’s ethics and compliance team commended the initiative for its relevance and clarity.
- Local security firms were permitted by the organizers to retain and distribute the training brochures as part of continuing education.
- Informal peer discussions on behavioral safeguards emerged spontaneously among security personnel during the sessions.
