From Rio in 2016 through a major international event in 2024, and now the Torino 2025 Special Olympics Winter World Games, Luisa Nunes has cultivated a strong track record in accreditation and sport event management. As she embarks on her latest project as the Uniform Distribution and Credentialing (UDAC) Manager for the Torino 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games, she reflects on her journey, the defining moments that shaped her career, and what excites her most about working with IGNITX once again. In this interview, Luisa shares her insights, experiences, and aspirations for the future.

You started your sport events journey in Accreditation at the Rio 2016 Olympics. How has your experience evolved since then?

My passion for sporting events ignited during the Rio 2016 Games. When it ended, I felt a sense of loss, like an orphan adrift. However, this feeling soon transformed into a discovery of the vibrant world of sports events and the myriad opportunities it offers. I embarked on my international career in Lima in 2019, then ventured to Europe, where I had the privilege of working with UEFA and contributing to Birmingham 2022. Most recently, I had the opportunity to return to that world in a 2024 global event in France.

Among the many events you’ve worked on, is there one project or moment that you feel truly defined your career trajectory now? Why?

My recent experience leading the Accreditation system team in the 2024 event has shown me an interest and aptitude for working with the development and implementation of systems. From the initial mapping, identification of needs, communication with client groups, and interface with the Technology area and providers, I discovered a new direction for my career, which I intend to pursue from now on.

This is your second time working on an IGNITX project. What has been your experience with the team so far?

Ignitx is a company that takes care of their team. Working with them gives me tranquillity to focus on the job and deliver the event with excellence.

This is your first time working at a Special Olympics event. What excites you most about Torino 2025?

The feedback I have from friends that worked before for the Special Olympics is very positive! They all say that the atmosphere is very good, a truly special event. So I hope to experience that good vibe.

What do you hope to take away from your experience at Torino 2025, both professionally and personally?

I believe that in this project I am exercising my ability to adapt and be flexible enough to accept changes in planning.

Personally I believe I will have an opportunity to work again with an amazing team, which reaffirms my satisfaction in working at sporting events.

 What is next for you?

Good question. For sure I want to keep working on sport events, probably focus on GMS and project management.
