Raising the Bar: IGNITX and Partners Deliver a New Standard for the GSSE in Andorra 2025
From 26 to 31 May 2025, the principality of Andorra hosted the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE), bringing together nine nations across 18 sports. Beyond the competition, Andorra 2025 marked the adoption of a new model for delivering small-state multi-sport events — one grounded in the IGNITX philosophy of embedded collaboration, trust-based delivery, and shared ownership. At the centre of this transformation was a consortium led by IGNITX, in partnership with Wiz‑Team, providing Games management system, and Furki Sport, providing the web results system, working side-by-side with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) to guide every step of the journey.
Building from Within: A Turnkey, Embedded Approach
As the appointed Consortium Coordinator, IGNITX assumed responsibility for the key operational services of the Games. Rather than functioning as an external contractor, the IGNITX team integrated directly with the LOC, supporting critical areas such as accreditation, sport entries, team services, stakeholder communication, and Games-wide coordination. From the outset, our approach was to empower — not replace — the local organising efforts.
Experienced and knowledgeable event experts - Li Neo Tay, Stratis Telloglou, Ursula Veloso and Silvina Silberberg brought deep technical expertise to client group coordination and systems implementation. Their proactive presence during the final months before the Games ensured alignment across National Federations, venues, and accreditation centres.
The results speak for themselves: approximately 4,000 individuals were successfully accredited, encompassing athletes, technical officials, volunteers, media, staff, contractors, and international dignitaries. IGNITX also introduced a structured Accreditation Matrix, which proved to be effective that it is now viewed as a best-practice reference for future editions of the Games.
In the weeks leading up to the Games, IGNITX also proposed, developed, and led the Main Operations Centre (MOC) processes, introducing a centralised hub for real-time communications, issue tracking, and coordinated decision-making. The MOC brought together key personnel from the different functional areas of services and operations of the Games, enabling structured updates, prioritisation, and swift resolution of emerging issues. For many within the LOC, this was the moment the Games truly arrived: the complexity became real, and the urgency to operate as a well-oiled machine took hold. The MOC not only improved coordination but also strengthened cross-functional alignment across the organising team.
Technology as an Enabler, Not a Barrier
Technology sat at the heart of Andorra 2025’s successful delivery. Using Wiz‑Team’s Event-Works platform, IGNITX configured and rolled out key modules for team registration, volunteer management, accreditation, accommodation, and logistics. These systems were actively adapted in response to feedback from users on the ground. In addition to these core functions, IGNITX deployed an online Foreign Athlete Review and Late Athlete Replacement (LAR) system through Event-Works, reducing processing delays and enabling streamlined, paperless resolution of eligibility and substitution issues.
A standout innovation was the introduction of a Wikipedia-style Extranet portal for National Olympic Committees, where all the necessary information about the Games were available. Launched in December 2024, this IGNITX proprietary tool replaced static PDF guides with a mobile-friendly platform that delivered real-time updates and push notifications. It became the single source of truth for teams and was widely praised for its clarity, responsiveness, and ease of use.
Communications between the IGNITX team and NOCs were also highly efficient. Whether via email or WhatsApp, queries were typically resolved within the same day, a level of service that significantly boosted operational trust and fluidity.
The Extranet portal, Accreditation Matrix, Games Management System configurations, and Data Dictionary — a structured reference guide detailing how data is defined, formatted, and exchanged across systems — were not only effective during Andorra 2025 — they now serve as strong foundational templates that will be further refined and enhanced for future editions, including Monaco 2027. This focus on reusability, structured documentation, and local-first planning reflects a broader operational legacy that extends beyond the six days of competition.
Results Management with Local Integration
The integrity and accessibility of results were a key success factor for the Games. Furki Sport, a long-time expert in multi-sport delivery, was responsible for coordinating results across 16 venues and 18 sports.
To ensure a seamless data flow between competition sites and the Web Results platform, IGNITX Project Manager Stratis Telloglou led the coordination between local timing teams and Furki Sport. His coordination ensured that the process for capturing and verifying real-time results ran smoothly across venues — ultimately enabling Furki Sport to deliver timely and accurate web results, which reduced pressure on venue teams and significantly enhanced the experience for spectators and media.
The combination of timely Web Results by Furki Sport and centralised competition scheduling coordinated by IGNITX proved invaluable for the successful live broadcasting efforts by ANOC.tv and Quality. For the first time in GSSE history, the Games were broadcast across multiple platforms, significantly increasing visibility and reach.
The volunteer Web Results team, composed of local volunteers identified and trained to support real-time data entry from venues into the Furki Sport system, was widely praised as “excellent, prompt, always on time, with a smile and passion to deliver.” Their accuracy and professionalism were instrumental in ensuring timely results publication — and they embodied the collaborative, empowered spirit that defined these Games.
More Than a Moment: A Model for the Future
The success of Andorra 2025 wasn’t the result of any single plan or platform — it came from people working side by side. Throughout the project, the IGNITX team was not viewed or treated as external service providers. Instead, they became an integrated part of the LOC’s daily operations, trusted to act, aligned in decision-making, and present where it mattered most. This deep sense of collaboration — where the lines between ‘client’ and ‘consultant’ naturally dissolved — was a living example of the IGNITX philosophy in action. It was this shared commitment and mutual ownership that enabled the Games to be delivered with such agility, cohesion, and confidence.
Whether it was managing last-minute needs, adjusting systems in real time, or simply being available when it mattered, the IGNITX team worked side-by-side with the LOC every step of the way. We shared responsibilities, responded together, and stayed focused on one common goal: delivering a successful Games for Andorra.
What made this project special wasn’t just the systems or the planning — it was how we worked together. From day one, we weren’t treated like service providers, and we didn’t behave like outsiders. We were part of the team — integrated into the process, trusted to act, and present every day to support, solve, and collaborate. That’s what made the difference. We moved forward together, always with one shared goal: to deliver a great Games for Andorra.
This spirit of partnership was echoed by the leadership of the Andorra 2025 Organising Committee.
As the last races concluded and athletes embraced in celebration, what remained was more than a successful event. It was a working model for how true partnership can deliver not only results — but also respect, legacy, and lasting confidence.
