Safeguarding Workshop for International Federations

An international survey of sport federations revealed safeguarding as a key area needing further discussion and training. GAISF collaborated with IGNITX to host a workshop for both recognized and non-recognized federations, focusing on enhancing safeguarding practices across member organizations.
What we did
- Developed and shared a pre-session awareness video to align all participants on safeguarding fundamentals.
- Conducted breakout sessions where federations assessed their current safeguarding strengths, risks, and improvement initiatives.
- Distributed a second video between sessions to frame the final discussion and deepen engagement.
- Held a collaborative session to help federation participants design actionable commitments and roadmaps to strengthen safeguarding within their organizations.
Results
- 57 federations actively participated in the workshop.
- Strong engagement throughout the sessions.
- Participants rated the workshop 4.22 out of 5.
- 87 % expressed interest in attending future safeguarding workshops.
- Many attendees commented on the relevance of the topic and valued the open, constructive dialogue.
